While PT (also known as Rc or BSPT) and NPT are both tapered threads and look nearly identical, they are not interchangeable due to two key dimensions:

• Thread Angle: PT threads have a 55° included angle, while NPT threads have a 60° angle.
• Pitch (TPI): Except for specific sizes like 1/2" and 3/4", the number of threads per inch (TPI) differs for most sizes.
