Mastering the Manual Override on Airtac 4V210-08
Every Airtac 4V210-08 features a small, usually blue or red button on the valve body. This is the Manual Override, a critical tool for engineers and maintenance staff.
Why Do You Need It?
- Commissioning without Power: During machine assembly, you can test if the cylinders are moving correctly before the PLC is even wired.
- Emergency Troubleshooting: If a valve isn't shifting, you can push the override to determine if the problem is mechanical (the spool is stuck) or electrical (the coil is dead).
- Positioning: Use it to move machine arms into a safe position for maintenance.
Two Types of Overrides
The 4V210-08 usually comes with a "Non-locking" type—you push it, the valve shifts; you release it, it springs back. Some variants have a "Locking" type (Slotted), where you turn it with a screwdriver to keep the valve in the energized state indefinitely. Warning: Always ensure the system is clear of personnel before pressing the override to avoid accidental machine movement.
