Understanding the Leak Rate and Sealing of 4V210-08

Interchangeability Guide: 4V210-08 vs. 4V210-06

If you are in a maintenance emergency and only have a 4V210-06 on hand to replace a 4V210-08, you need to understand the implications of the switch.

The Physical Fit

Both valves belong to the 200 Series. This means they have the exact same footprint and mounting hole positions. They will both fit on the same 200M manifold. The only physical difference is the port size (1/4" for -08 vs. 1/8" for -06).

The Performance Impact

The 4V210-06 has a smaller orifice, which means a lower flow rate (Cv ~0.67 vs 0.89). If you make this replacement:

  • Your cylinder will move slower.
  • If the cylinder is large (63mm+), it may not reach full force at the speed required.
  • You will need reducers or new fittings for your 1/4" tubes.

In summary: It is a valid emergency fix, but you should restore the 4V210-08 as soon as possible to maintain designed production speeds.
