Chemical Compatibility Guide for Airtac 4V210-08 Seals

Environmental Hazards: Chemical Resistance of the 4V210-08

The Airtac 4V210-08 is often used in factory environments where chemicals are present. Knowing what will damage your valve is key to preventing catastrophic leaks.

1. NBR Seal Limitations

The standard NBR seals in a 4V210-08 are excellent for mineral oils and air. However, they will swell and fail rapidly if exposed to:

  • Acetone and Ketones: Common in cleaning agents.
  • Brake Fluid: Glycol-based fluids are highly aggressive to NBR.
  • Concentrated Acids: Will corrode both the seals and the aluminum alloy body.

2. Cleaning Protocols

If you must clean your valves, use only mild soap and water or isopropyl alcohol. Avoid spraying industrial degreasers directly onto the solenoid coil or the spool interface. For wash-down environments, consider an enclosure to shield the 4V210-08 from harsh detergents.
